JRCS Roots and Wings Afterschool Programs

Afterschool programming for the 2025-2026 school year:

Juniper Ridge Community School has been working hard to fill the need of after school programming. We have been fortunate to be able to partner with some lovely organizations already working with children in the Grand Valley to be able to offer a few options for this year and we will strive to add more as we build this program. As these organizations are separate entities from Juniper Ridge Community School you will need to register with them separately and use their payment platforms.  Links for each organization are below.

If you know of a potential partner please reach out to Alice Dussart- [email protected].

Girls on the Run!: Mondays from 4:00- 5:15 starting March 2nd, 2026

Girls on the Run is Coming to Juniper Ridge This Spring!
All girls in 3rd through 6th grade are invited to come join us as we have fun learning and growing together.
We will learn to honor our fabulously unique selves, our voices, our physical abilities, and our gifts. In doing so, we
will activate our individual power!
Girls on the Run (GOTR) is an after-school program that uses the power of running to prepare girls for a
lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Through interactive activities, such as running, playing games, and
discussing important issues, GOTR participants learn how to celebrate being pre-teen girls. The program focuses on
building self-esteem and improving emotional and physical health. During the 8-week program, girls are empowered
with a greater self-awareness, a sense of achievement, and a foundation in team building to help them become
strong, contented, and self-confident young women.
Each session is led by trained, volunteer coaches who guide and mentor girls through a fun and uplifting
curriculum. Coaches teach specific life lessons such as dealing with body image and the media, resisting peer
pressure, making healthy decisions, and contributing to the community. Along the way, the girls train together to
complete an end-of-season celebratory 5K (3.1 mile) event on May 2nd, 2026.
In the end, girls leave with a stronger sense of identity, greater acceptance of themselves, a healthier
body image, and an understanding of what it means to be a part of a team and a community. Most importantly, Girls on the Run is FUN

Stages of History Young Chautauqua Program: Tuesday

Starting on January 13th, 2026 from 4-6:oo pm at Juniper Ridge

Stages of HistoryBringing History to Life One Story at a Time. 🎭✨
With our NextGen Chautauqua program, we empower students to step into the shoes of historical figures through the art of Chautauqua—a dynamic blend of research, storytelling, and live performance. In Chautauqua, students don’t just learn history, they become it, portraying real people from the past in their own words and voices. This engaging approach builds public speaking skills, critical thinking, and confidence while inspiring a lifelong love of learning. Through workshops, mentorship, and community events, we give young performers the tools to explore history creatively and share it with audiences in an interactive way.

Whether in the classroom, on stage, or at special events, Stages of History makes the past feel vivid, personal, and relevant. Join us as we transform history from something you read in a book to something you experience, remember, and carry forward.

Grades 5-8th only please.
